The Narwhals Society is a dynamic network of over 600 alumni entrepreneurs, business leaders and investors from New College, Oxford, united by a shared passion for innovation and business leadership. Our mission is to provide a collaborative platform where members can exchange ideas, access valuable resources, and grow their ventures with the support of fellow entrepreneurs, mentors, and investors.

We regularly host pitch events, workshops, and networking opportunities designed to connect entrepreneurs with investors and industry leaders. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to scale your business, the Narwhals Society is committed to helping you achieve your goals. Our network actively drives investment into New College alumni startups, fostering a culture of growth and collaboration.

Meet the CO-Chairs

Al Hearn

Al Hearn (2001)

Al Hearn is an experienced venture capitalist and entrepreneur with a passion for supporting early-stage startups. A New College graduate, he has spent his career helping tech and social enterprises secure funding and scale operations. Al's dedication to fostering entrepreneurial talent makes him an enthusiastic leader of the Narwhals Society, where he strives to empower fellow alumni to bring their ideas to life.

Chi Okafor

Chibugo (Chi) Okafor (2020)

Chibugo (Chi) Okafor is a social entrepreneur and gender equality advocate, over eight years of experience leading gender-focused initiatives. 


A New College MBA graduate, she has worked across sectors with organisations such as the UN and TEDx to advance women’s rights globally. She is the CEO of Kendake Honey, a social enterprise empowering female farmers, and the Founder of The Walk with Women and Children, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting the rights of women and girls, and CEO of Kendake Honey, a social enterprise empowering female farmers. As Co-Chair of the Narwhals Society, Chibugo is passionate about fostering entrepreneurial growth and investment within the New College community.
