Stefanie Burkert-Burrows
Originally from Southern Germany, I studied German and Theology at the University of Eichstätt, came to Oxford as a graduate student to St. Edmund Hall where I specialised in the area of Medieval German Mysticism and completed my MSt in Research Methods in Modern Foreign Languages in 1998 and my Staatsexamen in Germany in 1999.
In the following years, I taught German in the contexts of Secondary School and Adult Education near Manchester.
When returning to Oxford in 2013, I started teaching Translation into German to all year groups for different colleges. I now teach students from New College, St. Peter’s, Hertford, Queen’s, Oriel and Jesus College.
I was first attracted to translating when I completed my Latin A-Level coursework on the very different ways of translating Ovid’s Ars Amatoria.
I also teach business German and enjoy this very much.
Non-academic accomplishments
In my non-academic life I like to play the flute, and I am passionate about all things fashion-related.
I love New College as this college cares for all, students and tutors alike. The food is amazing!
