Erica Longfellow was appointed Dean of Divinity and Chaplain of the college in 2011. As chaplain Erica is responsible for services in our busy chapel. She is available to the whole college community, students, staff and fellows, and also has a role at New College School. Her current research is on the development of the inward self in 16th- and 17th-century writing. She is the co-editor (with Peter McCullough) of vol. vii of The Oxford Edition of the Sermons of John Donne: Sermons Preached at Marriages, Christenings and Churchings (2025), and is the author of Women and Religious Writing in Early Modern England (CUP, 2004). Before moving to Oxford, she was Reader in English Literature at Kingston University and a priest in the Diocese of Southwark.
