New College Society Garden Party and Lunch

On Saturday 24 June 2023, the New College Society Garden Party and BBQ lunch took place in the main college gardens.

New College Old Members and their families and friends enjoyed a relaxed, lovely day in College in the brilliant sunshine. The day started with an optional art exhibition in the Antechapel: Light and Shade: where pieces by James Gemmill could be viewed. This was followed by drinks by The Mound, and then a BBQ buffet lunch.

Throughout the afternoon there were activities for children in the form of a treasure hunt, Twister, ball games, giant connect four and a bouncy castle and face painters; the latter two leading the popularity stakes! Attendees then enjoyed afternoon tea, ahead of a special Festival Evensong with the first performance of new commission by Sir James MacMillan, ‘When One Man Dies’.
