Events with Old Members

The new year brings with it a busy time for our Development team as there are lots of fantastic events for our Old Members to get involved with.

New College Classics Society Dinner

The New College Classics Society held their annual reception and dinner on Saturday 28th January. The evening began with a pre-dinner talk by Patrick Finglass, who is Henry Overton Will Professor of Greek at the University of Bristol. Patrick spoke on Sappho, Charaxus, and the goddesses of the sea'. The talk was followed by a drinks reception in the Founder's Library, then dinner in Hall. This dinner is one of the main times in the year when students have the opportunity to meet and talk with Old Members to share their experiences of Classics at New College.

New College Media Network

The New College Media Network event was back in full swing on Thursday 2nd February, when Old Members and students gathered for the first physical Media network event in over 2 years. It was hosted by Old Member Tim Malbon (1989) at the offices of Made by Many at the picturesque Diespeker Wharf, Islington in London. The Network Chair, Charlotte Mikkelborg (1995, née Windle) led a fireside chat with Svana Gisla and Baillie Walsh - respectively the Producer and Director of the hit immersive concert ABBA Voyage

Old Members enjoyed a relaxed evening and discovered how this, the first live concert experience to feature avatars rather than real live performers on stage, has been such a huge commercial and critical success.
