Registration is the process by which we check that we have all the necessary information about you and confirm your status as a student for the academic year so that you can:
- Attend your course (programme of study);
- Release your loan from the UK Student Loans Company (SLC) or your sponsor/awarding body (where appropriate);
- Use your University email account;
- Obtain your University Card/keep your University Card valid;
- Be eligible to take University examinations and gain access to your results;
- Print a certificate of enrolment which can be used to open bank accounts, council tax exemption, etc.
It is very important that you complete your University Registration when asked to do so. The registration process for new students has two parts.
1) On-line
Firstly, you will have to do this on-line before you come to Oxford. You will be emailed your Oxford Single Sign-on IT login credentials directly by University IT Services at the end of August, once you have returned your signed contract, with instructions on how to register. The Oxford Single Sign-on is the method by which students access their Student Self Service account to carry out their University Registration, which opens on 1 September for Michaelmas Term. This must be completed by the Friday of Week 1 of term.
2) In Person
Undergraduate, Amherst College and University of Notre Dame Students
Upon your arrival in College, you will be required to present yourself to the Academic Office team in Lecture Room 6 on Tuesday 3 October for the second part of your registration. The team will update the University database confirming that you have arrived in College and provide you with a welcome pack.
