New College Society LGBTQI+ Reception, Lunch and Exhibitions

The New College Society warmly invites all generations of LGBTQI+ New College Old Members and students for a Sunday afternoon at New College.

The afternoon begins with a drinks reception in the South Undercroft off the Front Quadrangle at 12.30pm, followed by a lunch at 1.00pm.

Following lunch, we are delighted to be hosting two LGBTQI+ themed exhibitions. There will be some fantastic items to view from the College’s collections.

  • The first exhibition, in Lecture Room 4 (Noel Salter Room), will showcase LGBTQI+ related books and manuscripts from the College Library’s collections, both old and new – by kind arrangement of the Librarian, Christopher Skelton-Foord, and his team.
  • The second exhibition will be in the Red Room and JCR gallery which will be opened especially for our guests. Items by well-known LGBTQI+ artists held in the JCR and College’s art collections – including works by David Hockney, John Minton, Robert Colquhon, Keith Baynes, Keith Vaughan, Patrick Procktor, and Duncan Grant - will be shown – by kind arrangement with the Dean and Chattels Fellow, Michael Burden, and Jacqui Julier in support.

The event is open to all New College Old Members and their partners, with places offered on a first come, first served basis. We are asking for a contribution of £45 per person to include food and drinks.

If you would like to attend, please book via the University of Oxford Online Store here by Friday, 6 May 2022. If you have any questions about the event please contact the Development Office on oldmembers@new.ox.ac.uk

Should you wish to stay on for Evensong from 5.45pm to 6.45pm, please let us know when booking so that we can inform the Chapel team.
