Turkey and Syria Charity Event

On Thursday, New College hosted a charity event in the Cloisters, raising money for the relief efforts in Turkey and Syria.

With the support of students, staff and local citizens from all over Oxford, our New College members Kaan Erdoğu (JCR), Esin Yurdanur (JCR) and Ufuk Altunbüken (MCR) coordinated the event as a response to the devastating earthquakes that resulted in 50,000 recorded deaths and counting, left 80,000 injured, and millions of people on both sides of the border homeless or dislocated.

The event brought together hundreds of students, academics and local residents to offer their support, featuring food stalls, a bazaar sale, opportunities for community engagement, and dedicated fundraising tables.

It raised an amazing £5,030.57, which will be split equally between the Syrian and Turkish relief efforts.

A huge thank you to everyone that came and particularly those who helped organise the event.
