Professor Michael Broers discusses Napoleon Bonaparte at New College History Society Dinner
On Saturday 17 February, the New College History Society hosted its annual Hilary term talk and dinner. Every year this event proves particularly exciting for bringing together Old Members of College, professors and current MCR and JCR students of history.
We were delighted to welcome Professor Michael Broers, who provided a spellbinding talk on Napoleon Bonaparte, entitled ‘Napoleon: The Famous Delinquent’. Professor Broers recently served as a historical advisor to Ridley Scott during production of the director’s latest historical epic, Napoleon.
The talk was followed by a dinner in the Founder's Library, which gave students and Old Members the opportunity to discuss history, New College and everything in between.
The event proved our most well attended yet, and we hope this reflects an upwards trajectory in our endeavour to further strengthen the community of New College historians, past and present. The New College History Society looks forward to hosting more events like this in the years to come.
