New College welcomes back Old Members for a Gaude

On Saturday 28th September, New College welcomed back Old Members from the Matriculation years 1999-2001 for a ‘Gaude’. Over 150 New College alumni reunited during a bright (albeit chilly!) afternoon.

A 'Gaude' (elsewhere spelt 'Gaudy') is a college celebration bringing Old Members and their contemporaries back to College. Guests had a chance to stay in college overnight, retracing old steps from their university days.

The day began with afternoon tea in the Cloisters, followed by Evensong in Chapel. Old Members then enjoyed champagne in the evening sun in the Front Quad before a three-course dinner in Hall.

New College was thrilled to have Prasanna Puwanarajah as speaker for the Gaude. Prasanna trained in Medicine at New College, practising as a junior doctor before turning to a career in acting.

It was a wonderful occasion and a delight to see Old Members fondly recollecting their time at New College and rekindling old friendships.
