Undergraduates

Residence for undergraduates for Michaelmas Term begins on Monday 7 October 2024. 

You should arrive at New College from 10.00, and no later than 15.30 on that day.  As you enter College from Holywell Street, the JCR student helpers will meet you and take you to Lecture Room 6, where you will enrol.  Then you need to go to the Porters Lodge where you will be given your room key and the directions to your room. 

The College and the JCR have made arrangements for introducing you to the College during that week with a programme which, we hope, will ease you into your new way of life. Details will be provided when you arrive, and posted in the Freshers' Timetables section of this website closer to the time. 

Postgraduates

You will need to be in College in time to attend our induction events for graduate students, from Sunday 6 October 2024. Please note that your departmental or faculty induction programme may start on a slightly different date, so you will need to arrange to be in Oxford in time for whichever begins first. 

The MCR has made arrangements for introducing you to the College with a programme which, we hope, will ease you into graduate life at New College. Details will be provided when you arrive, and posted in the Freshers' Timetables section of this website closer to the time.  

If you are staying in College accommodation, please note that residence in the Weston Buildings begins on 1 October and ends at 10.00 on 30 June. (Unless you have made alternative arrangements with the College.) Keys can be collected from the Porters’ Lodge either in the Weston Buildings at the Sports Ground during office hours, or from the main College Lodge in Holywell Street outside normal hours. 

If you plan to arrive in Oxford before Freshers’ Week, please note University cards can only be collected from the Academic Office (4OB5) at College between 10.00-12.00 or 14.00-16.00 weekdays.  

 

PLEASE REMEMBER TO BRING YOUR PASSPORT (AND ANY VISA DOCUMENTATION).

 

Visiting Students

University of Notre Dame, Amhurst and Tsinghua students

The College should have already been in touch to confirm your arrival date. If you have queries, please email student.services@new.ox.ac.uk

Please visit the Lodge immediately as you enter College from Holywell Street; you will be given your room key and the directions to your room.

How to find us

Oxford is about 60 miles (90 kms) northwest of London and has excellent road and national rail links. Regular coach services connect Oxford with London, and also with Heathrow, Gatwick and Luton airports. For directions, please refer to the University website. If you do travel by car, please note that parking in the city centre is very limited. 

Our Location

New College is located in the centre of Oxford, and the main entrance to the College is on Holywell Street (postcode OX1 3BN‎). Graduate accommodation is located in the Weston Buildings at New College Sports Ground on St Cross Road (postcode OX1 3TJ).

Arriving by car 

If you arrive by car, the Porters will tell you where to park while it is unloaded, but it should quickly be removed to make room for other arrivals. If you have your own car, you will have to make arrangements for parking outside College once you have unloaded, as Junior Members are not permitted to park in College. Please note that parking in Oxford is very difficult.
