Undergraduate Visiting Student Programmes
University of Notre Dame Study Abroad Programme
The Oxford Programme at Notre Dame sends seven students to Oxford each year, half of which will come to New College. Notre Dame Visiting Students spend one full year (3 terms) at New College, and participate in our renowned and unique tutorial system, working one-to-one with tutors to pursue their academic interests in depth.
As list of courses available to Notre Dame students at Oxford can be found here.
The Notre Dame Oxford Programme is a highly selective programme which requires a high level of academic ability, and eligible candidates will be invited to apply by their home institution. Successful candidates must have records of outstanding academic performance and focused intellectual interests. New College requires that candidates have an overall minimum GPA of 3.7. Having been invited to apply, Notre Dame students complete an application, provide a writing sample, and name two Notre Dame faculty referees. The Selection Committee then invites the best candidates to continue on to an interview, and the finalists are presented to New College for approval.

Washington International Studies Council’s Oxford Study Abroad Programme (WISC)
The WISC programme allows students to study at the University of Oxford as a registered visiting student for one, two, or three terms. Students recommended by WISC are taught on specifically organised programmes. At the end of their studies they receive academic records directly from the college, (not from a U.S. educational institution) confirming they are registered as Visiting Students. Although the Oxford term is 8 weeks in length, successful WISC applicants are granted 13 weeks of housing in Oxford. The academic programme, supervised by New College, consists of two Primary Tutorials of eight tutorials each, plus and introductory meeting.
Applicants should have completed two years of university with a minimum GPA of 3.7 and have two strong recommendations from professors. They will also need to provide a sample of written work.
