Organist and Tutorial Fellow in Music, Robert Quinney is responsible for New College's world-famous Choir. In addition to daily services during University term, the boy Choristers and adult Academical and Lay Clerks undertake a wide variety of engagements outside the college, including recordings and concert tours. Robert is also a leading organist. Before his arrival in Oxford in 2014, he was successively Sub-Organist of Westminster Abbey and Director of Music at Peterborough Cathedral, and directed the Oundle Summer School and other course for young organists between 2009 and 2014.

Teaching

Robert sees all New College music undergraduates for weekly tutorials. As an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Music, he currently lectures on Techniques of Composition and Choral Performance.

Research Interests

The music of J.S. Bach, in particular the organ works and sacred vocal music. Performance practice. Modernism, in particular the relationship between Modernist musicians and earlier repertoires.
